Food And Wine Educator John Ash Cooking Classes

Vintners Inn announces the winter and spring schedule for renowned food and wine educator John Ash's series of cooking classes at the all new Vintners Inn Event Center.

The cooking classes are presented in a fun and informative format, and feature delicious dishes paired with featured wines. Five classes are scheduled January through May, 2007, 6:30 - 9:30pm, and include: Exploring Wild American Cuisine, January 16; Exploring Sensuous Foods - Do you Believe in Aphrodisiacs, February 12; A Menu from One-on-One, March 13; Fish and Shellfish Dishes from Around the World, April 18; and Hands-On Grilling with John and Jeffrey Madura, May 7.

Exploring Wild American Cuisine in January will feature contemporary uses of game with menu items such as Roasted Venison with Wild Huckleberries, Warm Quail Salad, and Wild Mushroom Delights.

In honor of Valentine's Day in February, the menu will feature dishes using ingredients thought to have aphrodisiacal properties and powers, such as oysters, strawberries, apples, figs, bananas, leeks, and chocolate. In March, John will demonstrate some of his favorite recipes from Cooking One-on-One, his critically acclaimed cookbook that was awarded a James Beard Foundation award, including Tagliata, an Italian recipe for Grilled Rosemary-Scented Steak served with Arugula and Capers, and Chicken Soup with Laksa, a Malaysian curry. April's class features Fish and Shellfish Dishes from Around the World and the Wines to pair with them, including Grilled Shrimp with Tomatillo Salsa from Mexico, White Miso Marinated Salmon from Japan, and Spicy Rice Noodle and Fish Soup from Thailand, while May's Hands-On Grilling class features ribs, fish and chicken dishes along with fun ways of preparing and serving up each dish for all to enjoy.

John Ash & Co. Wine Director Walter Inman has teamed with John Ash to select the perfect wine for each dish from John Ash & Co.'s award-winning wine list of more than 600 local, national and international selections.
