Celebrate the grand opening of Festival Napa Valley’s milestone 20th Anniversary Season with a spectacular evening of music at the historic Charles Krug winery in St. Helena. Led by the dynamic conductor Stephanie Childress, this festive Opening Night program bridges centuries of musical tradition — from the power of Beethoven’s Coriolan Overture to dazzling new works and beloved American standards reimagined for a full symphony orchestra.
The evening features the world premiere of a new concerto by composer Michael Thurber, commissioned by Festival Napa Valley and written expressly for the Grammy Award-winning ensemble Time for Three. Also on the program is Young America, a stirring six-movement cycle for chorus and orchestra by acclaimed composer Gordon Getty, brought to life by the Young People’s Chorus of New York City under the artistic direction of Francisco J. Nuñez. The night culminates in a thrilling symphonic reimagining of iconic songs by Bob Dylan, Billy Joel, and other American legends.
This choose-your-own-price event (starting at $5, with a $35 suggested donation). It’s the perfect way to kick off a summer of extraordinary arts and wine country experiences.
