WelcomeLavender started life in the 1850s as a rural country farmhouse southeast of Yountville; it is one of the oldest homes in the Napa Valley. The house was moved to its present, in-town location in the 1860s. Now on the National Register of Historic Places, Lavender has been completely renovated as well as lovingly preserved. In addition to the main building, this Four Sisters Inn offers accommodations in separate cottages on the grounds.
Each of the inn’s nine guestrooms features a fireplace, king bed heaped with pillows, and a large, brilliantly painted bathroom with double sinks and contemporary surfacing. Most rooms have peaked ceilings, providing a feeling of even more space. There are two spacious guestrooms in the historic main house. The cottage rooms surround the garden courtyard, and are entered through private patios. A Loft Suite offers extra-large accommodations with a separate sitting room and jetted spa tub. The property’s fragrant lavender garden couples with vibrant interior colors and fabrics from Provence to create a vibe reminiscent of the south of France.
A delicious breakfast buffet is served each morning in Lavender’s enclosed veranda. The inn staff prides itself on the irresistible and varied offerings prepared fresh each day. One morning, guests may wake to the scent of Lemon Poppy Seed Muffins and Apple Tea Strata coming out of the oven. The next day might start with Currant Scones and Breakfast Enchiladas. All breakfasts include a hot entrée, plenty of fresh baked goods, cereals, and an array of fresh fruits along with beverages.
Homemade cookies are also baked daily. And every afternoon, Lavender guests enjoy complimentary wine and hors d’oeuvres; in warm weather, the inn’s welcoming wrap-around porch is the perfect place to sip and savor.
Though the inn is wonderfully intimate and luxurious cozy, its location is the proverbial icing on the cake. Once they check in, guests really don’t need to get in a car again unless they decide to venture out of town. Lavender is in the heart of Yountville, an easy stroll outside to the dining establishments for which Napa Valley is famed, such as The French Laundry, considered among the world’s best restaurants. It’s also an easy walk to several outstanding wine tasting rooms, charming boutiques and galleries.
To help burn off the Michelin-star cuisine in town, many Lavender guests borrow the inn’s bicycles to pedal around the village and beyond.
Bike baskets make it easy to pack a picnic of local French bread and a hunk of artisan cheese for an impromptu vineyard lunch.
Though one of the world’s most desirable visitor destinations, Lavender makes the Napa Valley happily affordable with a selection of fall and winter packages. Check out the Stay One Night, Receive Your Second Night Free special and many others on the inn’s website: www.lavendernapa.com.
