Inside Wine Santa Barbara presents the Feast of Apicius Oct. 20th at the Santa Barbara Natural History Museum with proceeds benefiting the Museum.

This unique wine and food pairing event honors the 1st century AD epicure Marcus Gavius Apicius, renown for his hedonistic pursuit of the finest cuisine and most lavish preparations. His passion for food inspired the world’s first cookbook De Re Coquinaria. Sample chef-prepared appetizers adapted from this cookbook, including chicken stuffed with snails, duck/foie gras paté and beef sliders inspired by an ancient recipe, all paired specifically with a wine.

26 winemakers and proprietors will offer memorable tastes. The event will culminate in a top-chef competition where a panel of guest judges will award Tastiest and Most Creative to the recipes adapted from the ancient Roman text. Wearing togas optional!

IWSB is open to the public age 21 and older.
