“Underpinnings” – New themed fine art exhibit, exploring the skeletal structure of bridges, freeways, architecture, and art itself. Open August 8 through September 15 at the Harrington Gallery in Pleasanton’s Firehouse Arts Center. Media includes prints, paintings, and ethereal paper structures. Artists: Kathleen Crocetti, Monika Meler, Sarah Newton, Deborah Sibony, and Anne Subercaseaux.

Reception: Thursday, August 7, 7-9 p.m. Public opening reception with the artists. Light refreshments will be served. Suggested donation $5.

Youth Class: September 13, 4:30-5:45 p.m. Young@Art session: “Buildings & Bridges” $15 for residents, $18 for non-residents. Students tour and discuss the exhibit, then head to the studio to create related art work. Register at Pleasantonfun.com, select “School Age,” and “The Arts,” then “Young@Art.” Class code is 6940. Note: registration opens August 15.

Regular gallery hours: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday from 12:00-5:00 p.m.; Saturday 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Harrington Gallery at the Firehouse Arts Center in Pleasanton, 4444 Railroad Avenue.
