Riverfront Revival

Dining al fresco in Napa generally involves eating vineyard-side, but now there’s a strong pull south toward the Napa River, thanks to three heavy hitters who are set to open their doors this summer in the new Riverfront development.

Iron Chef and contemporary Japanese restaurateur Masaharu Morimoto is making his inaugural foray onto the West Coast with another of his eponymous sushi and Asian/Western fusion restaurants. The sushi bar, lounge, and outdoor dining will feature riverfront views.

Another Food Network star and local chef, Tyler Florence, is opting for a comfort-driven, farm-to-table approach in Tyler Florence Rotisserie and Wine. The wines all hail from Napa and Sonoma, and are paired with locally raised meats slow-roasted and basted in Florence’s signature rotisserie, which is known for producing juicier, more tender meats.

Offering the distinctively surf counterpart to Florence’s turf is Fish Story, complete with a pier for diners to dock their boats. This new venture is from the Lark Creek Restaurant Group and its cofounder, president, and CEO Michael Dellar, who is a James Beard Award semifinalist. This new eatery will focus on seafood that has been sustainably fished.
